Impelo Dance Associate, Jake Nwogu!

We’re absolutely delighted to tell you all about our new Impelo Dance Associates.

Our professional network for dancers in Powys, Y Nyth, has supported our freelance dance team in a variety of different ways during the pandemic and now with funding from ACW emergency funding we’ve been able to offer 3 of our freelance team a short term contract as an Impelo Dance Associate.

Over the next 4 months our associates will work with Impelo helping to deliver on our strategic aims:

  • Inclusion, diversity and talent

  • Creative Learning

  • Arts, health and wellbeing.

They will be part of our dance programme developing new sessions and partnerships whilst devising new ways of working. An exciting strand to the associate programme is research and development, each freelance artist will look to devise a project within a community in Powys, focusing on hard to reach groups and priority communities.

We would like to introduce our first Impelo Dance Associate, Jake Nwogu!

Lots of you may recognise Jake from various different workshops he has expertly delivered with Impelo, his infectious humour, incredible dance skills and warm nature give his sessions a friendly and fun unique edge. Over the last few years Jake has balanced rural Powys life with professional work commitments across the UK, you may even see him soon in the new series of Doctor Who! So we’re completely overjoyed he’s able to take on this role embedding his professional practice into community life in Powys!

‘It's great to be playing a bigger role at Impelo, I'm excited to be working with the team to get Powys dancing!’

Jake Nwogu.

The Impelo Dance Associate programme has all been made possible by the Arts Council of Wales emergency fund, diolch o galon!
