The contents of your dance play pack can be used in so many different ways, this page should provide you with support and guidance on how to get the best out of your resources!

There should be a series of postcards attached to your pack detailing a few ideas with each of the resources to get you started! You can use the resources to create a 20 - 30 minute movement session for your learners doing 1 or 2 activities with each one. Alternatively you can just use 1 resource at a time and choose whether to do a whole session or just a 5 - 10 minute exercise to break up the day. Activities can vary from energising warm ups and creative movement games to slower relaxing activities that may be suitable for bringing the energy down.

We’ve created downloadable resources (PDF’s) with exercise ideas on them as well as some short lesson plan ideas based around some exciting themes. To accompany this there are a whole host of playlist suggestions as well as videos, bringing to life some of the exercises. Below you’ll find a video, pdf download and an accompanying sound track for each resource in your pack and at the bottom further suggestions for lesson plans and 1:1 activities.

Dance play is curious and explorative, it requires all our senses to be engaged and embodied. The physical nature allows little ones an energy release and a failure free environment to gain physical confidence. Encouraging them to be creative, free and happy about moving is the goal! Remember activities can be energising to burn off some much needed energy, or they can be used in a way to calm and bring little ones back to themselves. Language is a big focus in a lot of these exercises, understanding directions, body parts and effort qualities. For example, if we’re all moving around like lions, they are understanding the word and embodying the animal, grasping the concept that Lions are big, and they crawl and pounce…..and make a loud ROAR sound!

Dance play isn’t prop/ resource dependant there are so many ways in which you can just use your body to explore movement, we’ve chosen to highlight exercises with the props in your pack on this platform so that you feel supported using it in your setting.
